Lily Munster from The Munsters

While the story may be Aladdin’s, so much of it revolves around Jasmine that it is hard to separate the two. Jasmine is a woman of self-determination. She will not be told what to do nor whom to marry. When she finds her one true love and learns that he is not a prince, she holds out until her father, the sultan literally has to change the law so that she can marry the man she loves.

Buttercup from The Princess Bride
Perhaps one of the greatest love stories ever told, The Princess Bride has everything in it, adventure, excitement, love, hate, revenge, comedy and even a six fingered man. The titular character, also known as Buttercup, is tough. She fights monsters, beats back pirates and rejects the most powerful man in the land, Prince Humperdinck. She even helps in the end to save her one true love.
