ICYMI, Preacher is back for its fourth and final season. And while it means the end of yet another comic book-inspired television show (RIP Luke Cage and Jessica Jones), we’re committed to giving the show a proper send off. To celebrate this weird show about a preacher with a criminal past — and superpowers! — we’re highlighting all of our favorite unconventional preachers. And a couple of nuns as well.

Strange Buddy Cop Pairings in Pop Culture

In Andrew Shaffer’s 2018 political fantasy slash buddy cop book Hope Never Dies, former President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden team up for an unlikely, yet strangely satisfying premise: Biden’s favorite train conductor has died and he’s the only one who can solve the mystery. But not without his political counterpart, the irreplaceable Barack Obama.

This week, Shaffer’s back with a sequel to this madcap mystery – this time to catch the culprit who stole President Obama’s prized Blackberry. Hope Rides Again is the perfect companion to a densely populated Democratic primary, but it’s not the only buddy cop pairing on our mind. Join us as we dive into the strangest and most delightful buddy cop pairings in the pop culture universe.

Wholesome Celebrities We’d Love to Show Up in Video Games

As the world has been watching, Keanu Reeves has been quietly turning 2019 into the year of the Reeves. Between the third installment of the massively popular John Wick franchise, a hilarious role in Always Be My Maybe (that has fast become the stuff of meme-legend), a voice role in Toy Story 4, and then his appearance at E3 promoting Cyberpunk 2077, Keanu has been all over entertainment this year. It’s more than that, however. Reeves has been announced as the Internet’s Boyfriend because he’s just so darn lovely. In a world of constant negativity, Reeves’s unalloyed happiness and straightforward kindness is so refreshing that it’s no wonder the world has gone a little nuts about him.

Bachelors in Literary Paradise

When Bachelor in Paradise premieres next month, we’ll be waiting with baited breath to see what kind of massive drama is going to pop up this time. Will John Paul Jones get stuck in a loop saying his name over and over again? (John Paul Jones. John Paul Jones.) Will Cam make us want to throw our remotes at the television. (Again?) Will Demi try to suss out who exactly is there for the right reasons?

One thing’s for sure, they’ll be on reality TV vacation in Mexico, not diving into the worlds of some of literature’s most incredible settings. But what if they were? Would it affect the outcome of the show? Would it change who arrived to film the show in the first place? There’s only one way to find out.

Women Who Need Their Own Late Night Show…Like Yesterday

Image by Rudy and Peter Skitterians from Pixabay

With Late Night starring Emma Thompson and Mindy Kaling opening this weekend the whole nation is asking itself one question. Wouldn’t it be crazy if a woman actually hosted a Late Night show? Followed by the next question. Wait, why don’t any women host a Late Night show? This fall we will have Lilly Singh come in as the first female Late Night host since The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers, which dropped hastily dropped Joan as the host. There’s also Samantha Bee doing the lord’s work on her weekly show Full Frontal, and while it doesn’t fall under the same umbrella we can’t just not bring it up.

We are in a comedy golden age that is being helmed by women and Late Night should be reflecting that. Here are our nominees.

Season 15 of The Bachelorette has started and the drama is already ramping up. (Chill, dudes!) We’re still dissecting the entrances and opening weird flexes of all of Hannah B’s suitors. But what if – just to shake things up – Chris Harrison introduced a new group of men for next week? We were thinking…some literary dudes might fit the bill? Here’s our dream line up of literary bachelors – and exactly how we envision those first moments at the mansion playing out.
