This is Us is on hiatus until September and we’re jonesing for a Pearson fix, stat. Short of writing some pretty elaborate fanfic about Randall, Kate, and Kevin or rewatching seasons one and two on Hulu, there’s not a whole lot we can do to fill the gaping hole in our hearts, right? Not true. As This is Us fans and literary connoisseurs, we’re in the that sweeping family drama sweet spot. So, snuggle into the couch with one of these incredible novels, guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings and maybe – maybe! – produce a few This is Us worthy tears.

Yesterday was Waffle Day and while there’s no greeting card to commemorate this very silly holiday, there are several Parks and Rec moments that remind us to make Waffle Day every day. We’re looking back at all seven seasons of Parks and Rec and celebrating our very favorite waffle moments. It’s what Leslie Knope would have wanted.

If you follow Reese Witherspoon on Instagram, you know she loves to read. In fact, “love” might be too mild a word to describe this voracious bookworm. She founded a production company so that she could amplify the voices of female novelists and non-fiction writers, turning their books into films. She has a social media-based book club, where she encourages her followers to read her new favorite books together. (Watch out, Oprah. Just kidding, they’re genuinely friends.) Today, in honor of Reese’s birthday, we’re celebrating our very favorite literary roles from her resume. These roles range from the silly to the serious, but one they have one thing in common: they’re all excellent books. And honestly, we expect nothing less.

Harness your inner slayer! Today is the first-ever Slay Day, a day to pay homage to one of the greatest female heroines to exist—Buffy! We encourage you to celebrate the people who help you slay in your own life, and keep an eye out for Buffy-themed prizes from Fox all day long! (Oh, and don't forget to have an epic Buffy the Vampire Slayer marathon.)

Let’s face it, even the best of us have a dark side. The same goes for some of our most beloved literary heroes (some a little more than others). Whether their antics finally caught up with them, or there was simply nowhere left to run, an alternate universe exists in which these characters were apprehended, locked up, and sentenced for their crimes within literature. At least we can take comfort in knowing they got to request their own last meals before signing off.

There’s no doubt about it, Molly Ringwald is best known for her work as a young actress in John Hughes films like Pretty In Pink, Sixteen Candles, and The Breakfast Club. Despite a steady acting career since, Ringwald will always be best known for the films she starred in during the mid-’80s. Of course, this doesn’t seem to bother the actress too much, and she’s even branched out into other areas, writing both a non-fiction book about finding "the pretty" (Getting The Pretty Back), and a book of short stories (When It Happens To You). Still an icon, Ringwald has done her fair share of literary adaptations as well, from comics and horror to YA adaptations in the works. And we’ve got the best of them here for you.
