Robert Ludlum’s super spy Jason Bourne has had an interesting career. Though Ludlum only wrote three Bourne novels before his death, his successor Eric Van Lustbader has written nine additional stories. The novels were so popular that in 2002 a film version of the first book was made staring Matt Damon. Though the first film did not bring in huge numbers at the box office, it eventually found success on home video. This launched an incredibly lucrative film franchise with two more films starring Bourne. After a brief hiatus for The Bourne Legacy in which Jeremy Renner played a new character, Matt Damon has decided to return for the fifth installment of the film series. We at Quirk are such huge Bourne fans, we thought it might be fun to see how the super spy would fare against some other well-known literary spies.

If there’s something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? Since it’s 2016, we’re gonna call Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, and Kristen Wiig. As we count down to the release of the movie we’ve been looking forward to for the last year, we thought we’d round up some book recommendations for the newest faces of the Ghostbusters franchise. 

The female version of Ghostbusters is hitting theaters this week, and we at Quirk are getting stoked. So stoked, in fact, that we’ve prolonged the thought experiment. What other campy movies would we flock to again, just to see the genders reversed?  Here are our top picks.

Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion

Star Trek has been and will always be a cultural phenomenon. The new set of movies has brought a whole new generation of viewers into the fandom and has sparked the imaginations of those who dream of “the final frontier.” While we at Quirk are incredibly excited about the next film, Star Trek: Beyond, we must still think to the future when all of the stars of the will no longer be able to take time out of their busy schedules for a massive ensemble piece. That leaves us with the question of what takes place next. How about a new younger cast for a Next Generation film.

This summer, movie theatres will be filled with big budget blockbusters and The Legend of Tarzan – based on the novel Tarzan by Edgar Rice Burroughs – is no exception. Samuel L. Jackson plays George Washington Williams, a historic American Civil War soldier and the activist responsible for spurring public outcry against King Leopold II’s Congo Free State. In honor of this movie’s bookish origins, we’re celebrating our absolute favorite literary roles of Samuel L. Jackson.
