THE FANGIRL’S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY BY SAM MAGGS: PRE-ORDER CAMPAIGN!
We’re really excited to be publishing Sam Maggs’s first book, The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy. And not just because she appreciates the film Pacific Rim and understands when we say we have a “drift compatible” author / publisher relationship.
Although that is certainly part of it.
There’s a lot planned for this book’s debut. We made an AWESOME book trailer. We released an epic poster at New York Comic Con (that subsequently took on a life of its own on Tumblr); we revealed the cover on The Nerdist; we’re putting together a blog tour; and Sam is busy lining up epic appearances at conventions throughout Canada and here in the States.
But what about YOU? Well, we’ve put together a pre-order campaign, just for you Sam Maggs fans out there. Read on to find out how you can get signed bookplates, limited signed posters, and other awesome Fangirl swag.

Happy #Quirksgiving: Join Us For A Month Of Giveaways!
Happy November, Quirk fans!
In addition to our fabulous Quirk Perks discounts this month (which include Geek Wisdom and The Cookiepedia), we're launching a month of fabulous giveaways!
That's right. An entire month.
We debated in the Quirk HQ for hours, trying to come up with the dates and the name for this fantastic giveaway. Would we do it in October? Would it be a single day (Quirkoween) or a month long thing (Quirktober)? What about December? Why not 12 Days of Quirkmas? Maybe something on New Year's Eve? Happy Quirk Year?
And then it happened. Brett Cohen stood up and shouted "QUIRKSGIVING!" The reaction went something like this:
Okay, maybe not exactly like that (there were only five of us in the conference room), but still. #Quirksgiving is a thing, and we want to give you the chance to win some fun prizes through the month of November. Just follow the directions for each day, and be sure to use the hashtag #Quirksgiving when doing so. We'll pick winners every morning.
Good luck, and have fun!

Workplace Wednesday: Office-Speak
In honor of Workplace Conflict Awareness Month, we’re posting excerpts from Caroline Tiger’s How To Behave: A Guide to Modern Manners. In How To Behave, Caroline dedicates an entire chapter to office etiquette. It’s my hope that these bits of wisdom, posted every Wednesday this month, will help you to alleviate the conflict in your workplace.
So far we’ve touched on How To Deal with the Overripe Office Refridgerator, Photocopier Etiquette, and Cubicle Courtesy. Today’s the last Wednesday of the month, so this is the last Workplace Wednesday post. Hopefully Caroline’s guidelines helped you avoid conflict in the office. Today’s bit of wisdom has to do with where a lot of conflict begins… talking. Read on to learn about Office Speak.

Workplace Wednesday: Dealing with the Overripe Communal Refrigerator
In honor of Workplace Conflict Awareness Month, we’re posting excerpts from Caroline Tiger’s How To Behave: A Guide to Modern Manners. In How To Behave, Caroline dedicates an entire chapter to office etiquette. It’s my hope that these bits of wisdom, posted every Wednesday this month, will help you to alleviate the conflict in your workplace.
Last week, we featured Photocopier Etiquette, and hopefully it helped you avoid an Office Space-esque mental breakdown. Today, we’re featuring something near and dear to everyone at Quirk… dealing with the overripe communal refrigerator. A point of serious tension in any office (especially ours!), the communal fridge can be a nightmare if it isn’t taken care of.
Tiger’s suggestion? Be the office hero and clean it for everyone. That’ll eliminate any tension and resolve the conflict before it even happens.
