Book Recommendations from Taystee Jefferson

Season six of Orange is the New Black is about to drop on Netflix and we’re itching to see what books they feature this season. (Last season really threw us for a loop, though. We’ll count ourselves lucky if we see a single person reading at Litchfield this season.) To celebrate the return of this roller coaster of emotions, we’ve solicited some help from our favorite fictional librarian: Taystee Jefferson.

The 10 Best New Books to Read in a Hammock
Photo by Joseph Ruwa from Pexels
Summer (hopefully!) means lazy days in the sunshine, relaxing with nothing to do but enjoying yourself…and getting sucked into some really great reading. While some may be lucky enough to do their summer reading on a beach, we’re big fans of opening a book in a hammock. Not only is this somewhere that you can really get into the lazy summer spirit, but you don’t have to get to a coastline (or deal with getting sand everywhere). Instead, all you have to do is lie back, relax…and immerse yourself into one of these incredible new offerings.

A Guide to Literary Pennsylvania
Anyone who knows us knows we’re Pennsylvania through and through. Like the Eagles fans that walk among us, we’re proud to call Philadelphia home. (Sorry, Steelers fans.) Like the politics of this vast state, we can’t decide between Primanti Bros and a good ol’ fashioned cheesesteak. (Fries on a sandwich, y’all. How can you resist?) And like any nostalgic and feeling human being, we love a good hometown hero. Today, in the spirit of our Pennsylvania love, we’re taking you on a literary tour of our beloved state. Wish you were here!

Quirk Books Film Festival
Summer blockbuster season is in full swing with great movies like Avengers: Infinity War, Incredibles 2 and Ocean's 8. But, maybe you are looking for something that isn’t so sequel heavy. Perhaps you are looking for something a little more bookish and shorter in length.
Welcome to the Quirk Books Film Festival, where we highlight five of our favorite book trailers from the past ten years. Quirk pioneered the Hollywood-style book trailer, pushing them beyond a simple ad for the book by making them compelling standalone pieces that tell a story. And, these trailers are sure to delight and surprise with their CGI effects, intense action sequences, suspenseful build-ups and pop-culture touch points.
Break out your popcorn and happy viewing!
