The list is a roster of the best of the best of animal-themed books sold in November and we're all wagging our tails at the news that Momo has snagged the # 11 spot. Good boy Momo (and Andrew)!

Giving Tuesday: Giving Back With Momo and Andrew Knapp

Earlier this year, we were really excited to publish Andrew Knapp's first book, Find Momo.

Can you blame us?  Find Momo is collection of beautiful photographs featuring Instagram sensation Momo, and that adorable border collie won the hearts of every single person in the Quirk HQ. Especially on his visits to the office. And we can't wait to publish Andrew's second book, Find Momo Coast to Coast, due out this May.

When it comes to Andrew Knapp… well, we love the guy for a lot of reasons. His gorgeous photographs. All the times he's brought Momo to visit us. And the fact that he's really dedicated to supporting local businesses and charities. Particularly ones that help influence the lives and welfare of animals.

That’s why on Giving Tuesday (December 2, 2014), Quirk Books is partnering with Powells.com in the United States to donate $1 per sale of Find Momo to Farm Sanctuary and with McNallyRobinson.com in Canada to support the Alberta Spay Neuter Task Force (ASNTF).

So, please help us spread the word today and share this promotion! Animal lovers and book lovers alike can participate in making the world a better place, one book at a time.

Dog Days of Summer: Ten of the Best Books About Man’s Best Friend

Groucho Marx famously once said: "Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read." Wise words, to be sure—but what if you could combine the two?

I’m a dog person. I used to be a cat person, and I do still love my fluffy feline, but when I met my husband he came with a dog, and, well, I’ve gone to the other side. Fortunately for my bookish tendencies, the dog book is a well-established form.

Heck, Lassie was published in 1940, and The Call of the Wild in 1903. Yet it seems there’s been a resurgence of popularity in dog stories. I can’t seem to stop running across them. I usually finish a dog book in a puddle of tears reaching for the tissue and burying my face into my sweet puppy’s fur. A great dog book reminds us why we’re dog people in the first place—and maybe that makes us cry.

Here are my favorites in no particular order. Even though the summer is almost over, they will be a great addition to your future “Dog Days of Summer” reading list.

What if Dogs Wrote Classic Novels?

The greatest things in the world are, in no particular order, dogs and books. Groucho Marx put it best: "outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to read."

But what if you could multiply the best-frienditude and put adorable canines in literature?! Or, as Xzibit would say, "Yo dawg, we heard you like dogs, so we put dogs in your book so you can dog while you dog. Dogs!" Here are six brilliant reimaginings of pup-ular novels.

How to be Awesome While Being Overly Enthusiastic About Other People’s Dogs

Illustrations by Katie Cook

Often times, the quality of my day is determined by the dogs I've seen. Spotted the sixth avenue corgi? It's a good day. A new photo of my favorite Pomeranian on Instagram? Great day. An actual chance to interact and perhaps pat the head of a dog?

Amazing day. As an overly enthusiastic fan of pups, I spend many of my internet hours furiously hitting the like button while loudly squeeing over photos of my friend’s dogs. When it comes to dogs that I see as I walk around the city, it's my responsibility to practice some restraint, even when I want nothing more in the world than to have doggy kisses all over my face.
