The latest miniseries to join the Marvel Cinematic (small screen) Universe is Hawkeye—a six episode adventure into Clint Barton’s life, and that of his new protege, Kate Bishop. Marvel comic fans will, of course, know who Kate is, as she has a long-established history in the comic universe (she first appeared in 2005). However, fans of the on-screen super-verse only may not quite know what to make of this Hawkeye-in-the-making.

For those looking for a little background on Kate, her time with Clint, and of course, the much-beloved Pizza Dog, these are the best comics to get caught up.

National Comic Book Day is this weekend, and if you’re wondering, “Didn’t that just happen?” or “Isn’t that in May?,” well, you’d be confusing this with Free Comic Book Day. Yes, that typically takes place the first Saturday in May and yes, it was cancelled in 2020 and postponed in 2021 until August 17th, but National Comic Book Day arriving so soon after the August celebration is really a blessing in disguise. It’s been a while since comic book fans could come together to celebrate the writers, artists, pencillers, colorists, letterers, and all the other amazing creators that bring our favorite comics, graphic novels, strips, and manga to life.

Whether you’re a veteran comic reader or a new fan, wondering where to begin, a tried and true way to find your next read is to bounce off of the content you already enjoy. Though any day is a good day to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islanders, we’re wrapping up the second week of May which means we've got only a little over two weeks left to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month specifically. There are a ton of great characters out there in the literary and popular culture world. Some of them have become so iconic that they are almost a part of the social zeitgeist. Superman & Lois premieres on The CW on Tuesday, February 23, and we’re excited to see where this contemporary story about some very familiar characters takes us. In fact, Superman & Lois has us daydreaming about a small screen future for some of our favorite superheroes, many of whom are part of the Marvel and DC universes we’ve come to know and love.
