Philadelphia Area Literary Events: June 8th – 13th

Every week there are workshops, readings, parties and other exciting literary events taking place all over Philly. For those of you planning to spend the next week holed up in a dark room reading, here are some opportunities to get out of the house and experience Philly’s diverse and lively book culture:

 
On Sunday, June 8th, as part of PECO Family Jams, Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art school is hosting an afternoon of Fairy Tales and Fables at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens.
 
Also on the 8th, for the Chestnut Hill Book festival, Nathaniel Popkin will be reading from his novel Lion and Leopard at the Chestnut Hill Hotel.
 
On Monday, June 9th at World Café Live, First Person Arts is hosting a Story Slam. This event’s theme: Close Calls.
 
On Thursday the 12th at the Leeway Foundation from 7:30 – 10 PM, Metropolarity will be hosting the 2014 Trans Literary Salon, featuring a once-in-a-lifetime lineup of readers.
 
Finally, starting on Friday the 13th, the Rosenbach Museum and Library will be hosting its Bloomsday festival, this year expanded into a week-long event.
