Memorial Day weekend is coming up and you know what that means: it’s a long weekend, friends! Three glorious days in a row to read, daydream, and soak up the sun. To celebrate this much needed break from our computer screens, we’ve gathered up some of our absolute favorite page turners – perfect for a three-day read in the park or at the beach. Let’s get to it!

Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston

Start your long weekend off with this contemporary retelling of Beauty and the Beast. When Rosie Thorne can’t get the mysterious General Sond cosplayer she met at ExcelsiCon out of her head. And it’s not fair. All they did was talk. (He was wearing a mask!) But Rosie has bigger things to worry about, like how many hours of reorganizing some rich guy’s library it’s going to take to pay off the rare book she damaged. And why Hollywood royalty Vance Reigns is being such a butt. It’s not her fault that he has to lay low in her hometown while the paparazzi find someone else to obsess over. And it’s certainly not her fault he doesn’t like reading.

Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu

If you’re looking for a genre-bending novel that you can read in one sitting, Interior Chinatown is the book for you! Willis Wu lives in a single room occupancy building, complete with a shared bathroom where residents stand in line for hours, and a police procedural perpetually in production at the restaurant downstairs. Willis, along with most all of his neighbors, plays a bit role in this show: Generic Asian Man. But his aspirations are so much higher – Kung Fu Guy, the most revered of all Asian film roles. So when he goes off script one day, improvising lines that aren’t there, it’s okay, right? As long as it’s all in pursuit of that coveted role?

This is Not the Jess Show by Anna Carey

Jess Flynn has a very normal 1998 teenage life. She has a crush on her childhood best friend, a pair of overprotective parents, and the inexhaustible need to just survive high school. And with boy bands dominating the airwaves and Titanic sweeping the Oscars, there’s this overwhelming sense of bubblegum pink happiness permeating pop culture. Which why it’s very strange – and more than a little unnerving – when Jess finds a handheld futuristic device with an Apple logo on it. Back to the Future III has nothing on this thrilling novel about technology and the ramifications of disrupting the space-time continuum.
