Today is Spouses Day, where the celebration of marital bliss is on the docket. While many people love their spouses, it is rare to see married people garner the same high level of regard in a single industry. Writers Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick have been two of the most influential comic creators of the last few years. Their works have been at the forefront of the modern feminist movement in the comics industry. With some of the coolest books on the shelf and a list of impressive collaborators, Fraction and DeConnick have taken comics storytelling to new heights. Their work has inspired a whole slew of people to cosplay as their characters and even put tattoos on themselves. Below is a round-up of some of the pair’s best pieces.

Neil Gaiman's hair is almost as magical as his writing. That's why we here at Quirk (who are BIG fans of Gaiman and his whimsical locks) have dedicated this blog post to Gaiman's hair. But wait! We've taken it one step further by pairing the many moods of Neil Gaiman's hair with a book.

Virginia Woolf famously said, “A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction.” We couldn’t agree more, but we would like to add to it a little bit: a woman also needs some amazing literary decorations in said room (after her aforementioned money goes towards paying rent and all that). After all, how else is she supposed to get inspiration?

Felicity Jones is everywhere these days. In addition to her leading role in Rogue One, she’s one of the stars of this month’s A Monster Calls, based on the young adult novel by Patrick Ness and adapted for the screen by the author himself. And what a treat that must have been – to work directly with the imaginative mind of Patrick Ness and become immersed in the world of his award-winning novel. But Felicity Jones is no stranger to literary film roles. With Northanger Abbey, The Diary of Anne Frank, and, yes, even The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on her resume, it’s clear she’s a natural fit to translate the rich world of a novel to the silver screen. Here are some of our favorites.

Meatloaf famously sang: “I would do anything for love, but I won’t do that.” Since it’s hard to part us from our Netflix accounts and our heaters, things we wouldn’t do for love include traveling through the harshest elements of winter (sorry, loved ones – take an Uber over to us, but don’t expect us to leave the house). Zombies represent some of our scariest dreams—dying, destruction, invasion, an overall death of society as we know it. They are our collective nightmare. We fear them but we are obsessed with them because they make us question what we would do at the end of the world. Would we step up to the plate and come out guns blazing or would we cower and hide in our basement to try to wait it out? We consume zombie-themed media in the hopes we’ll find inspiration for our inevitable demise in the zombiepocalypse.
