We’ll admit it, February can be a bit of a gloomy month. Spring is tantalizingly close… and yet it feels so far away when the snow is still falling. The holidays are long gone and those wonderful New Year/New You intentions are fading away in the rearview mirror. But though it may be a bit ‘blah’, February also marks the birthday of one of France’s best-known novelists: Victor Hugo. Born on the 26^th in 1876, Hugo’s writing certainly suits his birth month – his most famous works (Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame) are deeply melancholy, with death and despair at every turn.

There are countless fairy tales and legends we hold dear, but not all of them have had the staying power of Beauty and the Beast, Snow White, and Cinderella. Some stories just don’t have what it takes to remain in public consciousness and be made into Disney films. Here’s a collection of fairy tales that have fallen, deservedly, into obscurity.*

If you’re a movie buff – or even if you’re not – you probably know that the world has gone absolutely gaga for La La Land. Everywhere you look, there’s a new article about the casting choices, or the songwriting, or how many Oscars the film will ultimately take home—even articles about which books might get the La La Land treatment and be turned into musicals. We’re all about that trend, but let’s flip the script—here are some books that would make terrible musicals.

When most people think of comics, they think of superheroes. It’s not surprising, considering the current obsession with on-screen comic book adaptations. From the multi-series DC universe on the CW to the sprawling cinematic universes of Marvel, DC, and Fox’s X-Men, comic books are big business – and there are a ton of superheroes.

1. Delorian (Back To The Future)

Look at this beautiful piece of physics-defying machinery. Gull-wing doors, lush leather seats, not one but two cup holders, and, most importantly, a digital display that clocks your destination time down to the second. Sure, you need an absolutely ridiculous amount of energy in order to get it running, but can we honestly say that 1.21 gigawatts is too much of a price to pay for getting to where you’re going at the exact moment you want to be there? Granted, all that exposed wiring means this machine has a weakness to being struck by lightning, but don’t we all?

Cat pics and the Internet go together like peanut butter and jelly. You can’t imagine one without the other. But did you know that LOL cats, cat memes, and cats being jerks go as far back as the Middle Ages?
