Bookish Events in Philadelphia: March 6th – 14th
Philly hasn’t been this snowy in a long time but don’t let the mountains of fluff and slush keep you from leaving the house! Turn off House of Cards, strap on your skis (or borrow a friend’s) and come join us for this week’s Bookish Events.
Got something to say about all this snow? Join us tomorrow, Friday March 6, for The Pigeon Presents: The Philadelphia Poetry Slam at PhilaMOCA. There are only 3 slams left this season so splurge on a reserved seat! Last we heard there are still 10 left. Workshop with featured poet Elizabeth Acevedo at 7pm, doors at 8pm, slam begins at 9pm sharp. All ages.
Looking for a poetry-filled date night? Come to Chapterhouse Cafe & Gallery on Saturday March 7 for Ryan Eckes and Stan Muir’s ongoing Chapter & Verse Poetry Series. This month will feature poets Wendy Walters, Emily Abendroth, and Oki Segumi. Grab a chai latte or a Nutella hot chocolate and cozy up with some fine poets. Starts at 8pm. All ages.
As you might already know, here at Apiary, we love intimacy, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that we are ecstatic about the Bedfellows Magazine 3rd Issue Launch on Tuesday March 10 at L’etage. The list of readers is near endless and pure gold. Make sure to bring some extra $$ to purchase your very own copy of the intimacy/desire themed mag and support local publishing. Starts at 7:30pm, 21+
The rumors are true. The Harvest is back and we cannot wait. Not only are they back for the The Return of the Harvest on Wednesday March 11th at World Cafe Live, but The Harvest is turning 6! Spoken Soul 215 will host an evening of performance, games, dancing, and live tunes. We can’t imagine a better way to spend a Wednesday night. Happy Birthday, Harvest! Starts at 7pm. All ages.
A vending machine? Full of chapbooks? Funny you should mention that. The geniuses at The Head & The Hand Press are teaming up with Elixr Coffee on Thursday March 12 for the Chapbook Vending Machine Launch Party featuring brand new chapbooks and some oldies too. Hear authors Robert Marx, Sarah Graybeal, and Autumn Konopka read excerpts from their featured chapbooks. Don’t forget to order a cortado while you’re at it! starts at 7pm. All ages.
