Bookish Events in Philadelphia: March 27th–April 2nd
April, already? Almost! We can’t believe how quickly the year’s going. April is National Poetry Month and we can’t wait to see what Philadelphia has in store. The ground is blossoming pink and yellow and though it’s not quite warm yet, we can feel it just around the corner. The last fews days of March are promising but we can’t wait for warm weather adventures and poetry in Clark Park! Check out this week's Bookish Events:
On March 8, Mary Pitts suffered a near fatal attack. The Fuze will honor Mary Pitts tonight by donating all profit from this evening’s slam to the Mary Pitts GoFundMe Fundraising campaign. Join The Fuze tonight, Friday March 27 at Studio 34 for an open mic, slam, and good vibes, as usual. 8pm.
Roberta Fallon is the cofounder of The Artblog, a long time Philly favorite for all things art. Join Roberta and The Nicola Midnight St. Claire for The New Art Writing Symposium at The Fabric Workshop and Museum. Roberta will lead a workshop on art writing using artists Joy Feasley and Paul Swenbeck’s current exhibition. The Fabric Workshop, Saturday March 28th., 2pm.
The Kelly Writer’s House welcomes mystery writer Neil Plakcy for a discussion on trends in Mystery, Romance, and LGBT writing on Tuesday March 31. Neil is considered a hybrid writer and has published with small and large presses as well as selfpublished a successful mystery series. 12pm.
There is definitely nothing happening on Wednesday April 1st. Nothing. At all. APRIL FOOLS! That joke was weak, actually I’m pretty sure it was just a lie, but if you’re free Wednesday night you should absolutely come out to Big Blue Marble Bookstore for an evening of humor and storytelling. Hal Sirowitz, Amy Barone, and Ron Kolm will perform. PA poets represent! 7pm
