It's almost Shark Week 2017, aka the week of sharp teeth, fins, and about fifty more rows of sharp teeth, and all the sharks you could possibly hope for. Shark Week isn't only around to terrify and frighten us out of the water for the rest of our lives. It helps to educate and bring awareness to these amazing creatures. We thought we'd take a look at some of the best—and somewhat ridiculous—sharks in pop culture to help us get in the mood.

From amateurs to policeman to private investigators, we’re a bit obsessed with detectives in pop culture. After questioning witnesses and examining the evidence, we’ve compiled a list of six of our favorite detectives. The results are in, and they are random and strange and possibly not the ones you would’ve chosen.

Almost seventy-six years after she was introduced in All Star Comics #8, Diana Prince, Princess of Themyscira, badass superhero Wonder Woman, is finally getting her first live-action solo appearance on the silver screen. The long overdue recognition has been met with some skepticism but a ton of joy and excitement from Wonder Woman fans around the world. Diana is more than just a princess for many: she’s a fierce heroine, a feminist and gay rights icon, everyone’s favorite female superhero, and the hero that we need.

For some reason the fanny pack is one of those trends that just keeps trying to come back. We get it—fanny packs are incredibly useful. They’re hands-free, fit a ridiculous amount of useful things in their many, many pockets, and, yes, they’re even sometimes in really cool fabrics. So maybe the trend makes a bit of sense. But have you considered what some of your favorite fictional characters would carry inside their fanny packs? No? Well, we have.

When we think of space operas—melodramatic adventures full of interplanetary battles with a little romance thrown in—we tend to think of sweeping franchises like Star Wars and Star Trek. While there have been some space opera books (consider everything by Iain M. Banks, books by Robert Heinlein and Dave Simmons, and the countless Star Trek, Star Wars, and Battlestar Galactica book adaptations), we wondered what would happen if we could see some of our favorite space opera movies turned into books.
