10 Best Cats In Comics
When you think about cats in comics, who comes to mind? Some of the most obvious are the cats who live in classic comic strips—Garfield, with his love of lasagna and hatred of Mondays, Hobbes, the beloved stuffed tiger come to life, even the multitudes of nameless cats that pop up in comic strip after comic strip online. But the funny pages aren’t the only place to find incredible felines. Comic books and graphic novels have their fair share of four-footed characters with real depth and charm. These aren’t cats that dispense weekly soundbites or tired catchphrases, but fully developed characters who lie, fight crime, swear, and discuss the stars and their place in the universe. Some silly, some complicated—these are the ten comic book cats we love best.

The incomparable Tilda Swinton has been on the big screen for over thirty years, bringing us characters who run the gamut from modern day mothers to fantasy ice queens, vampires and royalty, predators and angels. Her unique look and commanding presence is incredibly distinctive, yet it can be wrapped around a range of roles that most other actors would struggle to encompass. Perhaps it is not surprising, then, that Swinton has brought to life multiple characters from the pages of books—so many, in fact, that we aren’t even going to list them all. Instead, we take a look at her ten best and biggest—whether blockbuster movies, starring roles, amazing adaptations, or something else that makes these literary roles worth watching.

What’s In The Inhumans’ Library?
[TV still from Inhumans, ABC Studios, Walt Disney Television, and Marvel Television]
Marvel is certainly not afraid of experimenting, especially when it comes to the latest small-screen addition to their cinematic universe, Inhumans. The new series officially premiered Sept 29, and a shortened version of the first two episodes were released in IMAX at the start of the month as well. It was an interesting move, for an interesting series concept: a group of genetically-enhanced royals who live on the moon, embroiled in family intrigue as one of their own takes the throne for himself.
The series features quite a large central cast, with multiple members of the royal family front and center, and each with their own distinct powers and personalities. We're taking a look at some of these fascinating new superheroes and the kind of books they would be found curled up with on a quiet evening in the Attilan library.

If Beloved Authors Went To Burning Man

At the end of this month, Nevada’s Black Rock Desert will undergo its yearly transformation into Black Rock City for just over one week of art, expression, and collaboration called Burning Man. Although Burning Man is technically a festival event, it’s become so much more than that since its inception in San Francisco in 1986. Art, expression, anti-commercialism and bartering are the key features of the fest for most, but for others it has become little more than a week of hedonism, the pursuit of pure pleasure in a desert city where anything goes as long as each of the tens of thousands of attendees are coming together to create joy, radical self-expression and share their talents as gifts for all.
This massive party has become world-famous and has also garnered its fair share of criticism. Some see it as a wild gathering of socialist art punks, creating something entirely new in the harsh desert. Others see it as an excuse for hippies to do drugs (and each other) consequence free, while more bemoan the "commodification" of the festival and its transformation into what they consider to be a party haven for the rich and the ravers. Whatever it is, it certainly sparks a reaction, and we’re wondering what that reaction would be if some of our favorite authors of classic American literature were to attend Burning Man 2017 when they were in their prime.
