Summer (hopefully!) means lazy days in the sunshine, relaxing with nothing to do but enjoying yourself…and getting sucked into some really great reading. While some may be lucky enough to do their summer reading on a beach, we’re big fans of opening a book in a hammock. Not only is this somewhere that you can really get into the lazy summer spirit, but you don’t have to get to a coastline (or deal with getting sand everywhere). Instead, all you have to do is lie back, relax…and immerse yourself into one of these incredible new offerings.

Today is International Kissing Day, but who needs just one day of the year to celebrate that wonderful moment when lips meet and sparks fly? We’re still celebrating the magic of kisses in pop culture… and awkwardly laughing at the less-than-magical ones, too. Incredibles 2 is about to hit the big screen, bringing one of our favorite super-families back to delight a new generation. The original Incredibles introduced fans to this suburban family with a secret — they are all natural superheroes! The super-strong Mr. Incredible and his super-flexible wife Elastigirl team up with their two children, speedster Dash and invisible girl Violet, to take down a supervillain (and leave the incredibly powerful superbaby at home with a sitter). It’s a sweet, funny movie, and one that plays with the idea of family dynamics affecting a superhero mission.

It’s time to break out the black eyeliner. May 22 is World Goth Day! From the early days of the subculture steeped in goth-rock, the goth world has expanded to encompass a whole range of ways to rock the black — from the cute to the historic, and the old-school to the surprisingly colorful stylings of pastel and raver goths. And of course, being the bookworms that we are, we’ll be celebrating this May 22 with the perfect literary picks for every goth, no matter your style.

The love of staying inside, the dislike of large crowds of people, the tendency to spend entire days (or even weekends) curled up in a comfy armchair…it’s no wonder that bookworms, nerds, and cats are drawn to each other! There’s something so satisfying about reading a favorite book or comic with a purring furball on your lap. Cats are just as happy to indulge their introverted sides as most nerds and bookworms are.

Of course, cats are also a little too happy to sprawl all over the book you are trying to read (or the game your are trying to play), and while we love these furry companions, it’s a good idea to give them somewhere else to curl up.
