It's that time of year again, when the air is thick with the smell of pumpkin spice, each step on the sidewalk is punctuated by the crunch of dry leaves underfoot, and DVRs are getting cleaned off and reprogrammed to make room for all the new and returning fall shows. Whether you happen to be a TV fanatic, a more casual viewer, or a protagonist in a classic work of literature, there's something for everyone this upcoming TV season.

In the first episode of Netflix's binge-worthy series Stranger Things, aptly titled “The Vanishing of Will Byers,” a young boy with a fondness for X-Men comics and Dungeons & Dragons gets pulled into a creepy parallel dimension that his friends later dub the Upside Down. Throughout the series, several more characters wind up visiting the Upside Down, either in an attempt to get Will back or because they were dragged there against their will, with varying results. Some come away unscathed. Others… not so much.

When Harry Potter and the Cursed Child released in July, it created a lot of buzz for a lot of reasons (the most obvious being that it was New! Canon! Harry! Potter!). One of those reasons was that after two decades of the Harry Potter fandom widely accepting that there were three “good” Hogwarts houses and one “bad” one, the protagonists of Cursed Child were both members of Slytherin house.
