If you were a fan of Geekerella, you’re going to love Ashley Poston’s latest contemporary fairy tale: The Princess and the Fangirl. Imogen Lovelace is a teenager with one mission: to save her favorite Starfield character, Princess Amara. She’s got the ExcelsiCon map memorized, the #SaveAmara hashtag trending, and so much merch to give away. But there’s one problem: Jessica Stone, the actress playing the role, wants nothing to do with the campaign. In fact, she’d rather her character remain dead. (Yikes!) This modern twist on The Prince and the Pauper got us thinking about our favorite swaps in pop culture — and the hijinks that have ensued.

It’s not hard to fall in love with your local independent bookstore. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with an alluring brick floor or a bookstore cat or every book you’ve ever loved on display at the front of the store. It’s a book lover’s dream. And while we’re guilty of the infinite browse because the prices are higher than we thought they’d be (curse you, Amazon!), today we’re embracing that full price lifestyle – with the promise to honor and support our indies for all time. Small businesses keep our communities vibrant, y’all. Let’s treat them right.

We really really love Keira Knightley. (Is that totally uncool? We don’t care.) And it seems like she loves us too – or at least the things we stand for. Throughout her long and illustrious career, she’s shown a fervent dedication to all things literary, playing some of our favorite fictional characters – and one wronged author! And today we’re looking back on that career. (And forward to the roles ahead.) Happy birthday, Kiera Knightly. We hope your day is filled with hours and hours of reading. Because you deserve it.

The fifth and final season of Jane the Virgin premieres this week and we are on the edge of our seats. (Y’all! You can’t leave us with a cliffhanger like that and then not come back until mid-season. That’s just not fair.) As fans of the show know, Jane is an avid reader (and writer!) who always has something incredible to read. You can tell it’s a writers room full of book worms. (We see you, fellow nerds.) So, without further ado, here are some of our favorite literary moments of the series.

It’s almost the Ides of March, that spooky not-quite-Spring time when everything feels off kilter and you’re constantly looking over your shoulder. (E tu, Brute?) To celebrate this off-kilter and decidedly un-celebratory holiday, we’re taking a look at some of our favorite novelists – and wondering why they haven’t written an adaptation of Julius Caesar.

We’re joking, of course. But Julius Caesar is pretty much never adapted. And in a sea of Romeos and Juliets, Violas and Sebastians, it’s fun to imagine a world where Marc Antony is getting some contemporary love. So happy Ides of March – or beware! Either way, we’ll be daydreaming about the adaptation potential.

We’re big fans of women throughout history here at Quirk Books — so much so that we’ve published several books about them! In honor of International Women’s Day, we’re looking back on our favorite girl squads throughout history with a fun, feminist quiz. (Bonus points if you complete the quiz with your BFF.) Grab your pencils and brush up on your history because this quiz is one for the ages. Literally.
