'Tis the season to count your blessings and to be thankful for the little things in your life. Here at Quirk Books we’re thankful for our TBR’s, book clubs, and monsters! Not all monsters are bad, and we’re thankful for these misunderstood creatures on our list.

The BFG

Giants typically eat people, destroy anything they dislike, and live on top of a bean stalk. The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) on the other hand, gives good dreams to children and only eats plants. This big ol’ teddy bear of a monster has a heart of gold and saves the world from bad giants who want to eat people. Thanks, BFG!

Secret Santa

Some monsters that we’re thankful for are even a gift! Take for example the Secret Santa present that Lussi Meyer receives at her new job. What some might see as a demonic doll, others might see as “helpful” holiday assistant. Especially if you have any pesky annoying co-workers…so remember to say thanks after opening your gift.

Godzilla

He might be called King of the Monsters, but at heart Godzilla is one of the good guys. True he might accidentally destroy a city here and here, but it’s all a misunderstanding! Godzilla just doesn’t realize how big he is and how crushable people. But when a true baddie like Mechagodzilla comes town, boy are we super thankful for Godzilla to have our back!

Sulley

The cuddliest monster on this list, has to be Sulley from Monsters Inc. Don’t let this big blue lug fool you, he’s good with kids and is a great best friend. Yeah, he has a roar that can scare a whole slumber party, but his heart’s in the right place. Just remember, he scares because he cares!
