Now that you know what I’m talking about, here are ten random ships that are truly meant to be together.
Cory & Topanga (Boy Meets World): If you don’t ship this couple, then you don’t have a heart. These two always knew they would end up together, even when Topanga drew crazy hearts on her face with lipstick. Thinking about the episode in Disney World still makes me cry happy tears.
Ross & Rachel (Friends): The classic example of “will they/won’t they” drama. In this case, it was drawn out for an entire decade. Without these two, we wouldn’t have millions of viewers who think affectionately of lobsters and still use the “We were on a break!” excuse to get out of trouble with their significant others.
Catherine & Heathcliff (Wuthering Heights): I’m a little biased when it comes to adoring Wuthering Heights, but the gothic, tragic, insane relationship between Catherine and Heathcliff has few rivals. It’s a crazy, obsessive love that is determined to overcome all boundaries.
Peanut Butter & Jelly: Or peanut butter and chocolate. Maybe even peanut butter and soda crackers. Peanut butter and anything, really. Peanut butter sure does get around…
Batman & Robin (Batman): Batman needs his sidekick. It might be because I’m partial to the live-action TV series from the 1960s, but The Dark Knight doesn’t seem right without his trusty friend in red, green, and yellow.
Mario & Luigi (Nintendo): Similar to Batman and Robin, this pair are the ultimate BrOTP. “It’s a-me, Mario!” “I’m a-Luigi, number one!”
Betty & Veronica (Archie Comics): The great debate surrounding Archie has always been, will he end up with the blonde or the brunette? But let’s consider these two girls on their own. They are nothing without each other. They may be antagonistic, but they make a lovely pair.
Coffee & Biscotti: Does anyone ever eat biscotti without dipping it in coffee? I didn’t think so. These two were meant to be together. They’re a better definition of soul mates than Dawson and Joey from Dawson’s Creek (and that’s saying something because I’m a die-hard Dawson fan).
Elizabeth Bennet & Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice): A list of OTPs would not be complete without Elizabeth and her beloved. These two are affectionately loved by most readers of classic literature. Jane Austen sure knew how to ship.
Sherlock Holmes & Dr. Watson (The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes): Sherlock and Watson have incredible chemistry—in the original stories as well as every single adaptation ever made. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle made damn sure that everyone would ship these two together for the rest of forever. Whether you consider them an OTP or a BrOTP, you still consider them.
