UNDERCOVER GOLF

While in an athletic posture, lean forward from the hips and reach out to your drink.

While enjoying your drink, drop back until you’re perched on the edge of the stool, with your knees slightly bent. Adjust your weight distribution until it is even on both feet.

Practicing proper weight distribution while drinking at a bar

Step 1. Set yourself up at the bar. Stand facing the bar or at a high table. Set a hip-high bar stool directly behind you and order a drink.

Step 2. Set yourself up in front of the bar stool. Stand just a few inches (several centimeters) in front of the bar stool. Place your feet about shoulder-width apart so that your toes are on a line parallel to the bar or, if the bar or table is curved, to the stool. Look down briefly to check your feet—you can also reach into your pocket or bag and pull out your wallet at this point.

Step 3. Square your hips and shoulders to the bar. If the bar or table is curved, use your foot line as a reference point. Bring your hips and shoulders into square with your feet.

Step 4. Wait for your drink to arrive.

Step 5. Lean forward from the hips and pay.

Step 6. Grasp your drink and lower yourself into an athletic position on the edge of the stool. Bend your knees slightly until you are sitting just on the edge of the stool. Rest your weight more on the inside balls of your feet than on the stool.

Step 7. Adjust your weight distribution as necessary. Feel yourself centered over the inside balls of both feet. Be sure that you are balanced.

Step 8. Drink your beverage.
